Engine Vibration
#1
Hi guys... just new here and have just brought an 06 busa which i am growing to like very quickly but have a problem..... i think

Riding home on the freeway just after i have picked it up.. just starting to nudge about 4700rpm and 140kph i started to feel a rather heavy vibration through the bike, which got worse as i went faster. I never kept the throttle open to see if it went away, was too scared the thing was gonna fly to pieces.

Would anyone know wot it is??

cheers

Hi auzzyss

Congrats on the new bike.

Apparently some vibration around 4500 is normal for the Gen 1 (depending on how serious it is of course).

From the http://www.hyp4r.com/hayabusa/review.htm website ((excellent read) the authors notes "The only thing that feels weird about the bike is the vibration that occurs after 4500rpm. You can feel some through the handlebars and to a lessor extent the foot pegs. They do subside after about 5500rpm. ".

My 07 gets vibey as well but i dont notice it now.

Does it get vibey when stationary and revved to 4700? It may be out of balance tyes and not anything to do with the engine.

Cheers
steven

Larra: it felt bad to me but i have come from v-twins and triples that have counter balance shafts. This is my 1st multi engine. yes it happens thru all the gears at about 4700 rpm.. reguardless of how fast ur going..

Steventh: thanks for the link dude.. i read that lastnight after deciding to do some indepth research about the busa.. apparently im not alone.. :P

Im thinking that its a tuning thing and an inline 4 trait... some mates with R1's and the like have had the same thing at around the same rpm and tuned it out with a set of pipes, power commander and a K&N air filter...

Thanks for the replys guys... and have a safe easter... remember double demerits so keep off the throttle..lol

I have an 06 with a set of pipes, power commander and a K&N air filter... no vibrations anywhere and i never had any when it was stock either so??. My 99 never had any vibration right up to when i sold her (biggest mistake i ever made). Ill ask around a few of me mates and if i sus anything i,ll let you know. Cheers baz

We've been discussing this in the general forum as well, so lots of opinions all round.
