gen 2 chain and sprockets
#1
question, can we add links to a gen 2 chain if you put a bigger sprocket on or do you need a whole new chain? i wish to extend the wheelbase as opposed to keeping the same number of links and shortening the wheelbase.

dealer yet to confirm the above.

also is the gen 1 chain different to the gen 2 as i have a brand new gen 1 chain in a box.

cheers

Same chain mate adding links is no problem if the chain is in good nick.

cheers bruce. i suspected the dealer was trying to get me for a new chain even though chain is still very young and in good nick so i await there response to see if they tell the truth.

bigger sprocket needed for the heavier racers like me.

at least i have another brand new chain in the shed.

when you in wa again zook?

Fellars this might be a stupid question but can you get a smaller sprocket for the front instead of going bigger on the back that way you wouldn't need extra links in the chain and you might also get some extra length ????

You can lower the gearing by goind down in size at the front or going up in size at the rear. Either way is fine mate.

Prolly wont be back in WA for a while mate I'm trying to stay at home as much as possible, love it over there but this is where my kids are and Ive missed too much of their childhood already.

Whats the ratio of front to back, is it
1 down on the front is equal to 3 or 4 up on the back

Yip that's pretty close 1 on the front up or down equals approx 3 on the rear up or down.
