Westfield XTR2

Did anyone catch Top Gear last night on T.V?

I was watching with mild interest when they mentioned a car called a Westfield XTR2. But when they took it out to the track, I thought to myself "far out that engine sounds very familiar to me". Sure enough, Hammond went on to mention that the car's powered by a Hayabusa engine. Suddenly I began to take a bit more notice With the whole car only weighing in at between 410kg (with race trim), it makes for one serious sportscar. In fact it was so quick that it beat the Pagani Zonda around the Top Gear track, which is apparently one of the ultimate supercars (as you can tell I'm not into cars much). And it's a road legal car, as least in the U.K.

Just another example of how awesome the Busa engine really is.

yea I saw the segment, no wonder the hayas engine is so sought after.

Yes... just like you I didn't take much interest at first until they said it was a 1.3 litre engine and by then I was already convinced it must be a busa engine.... which Hammond confirmed later. The thing flew! I'm wondering if it was a standard engine or worked? Either way... fastest motor on 2 or 4 wheels now eh ? Mind you, that was an old 'original' episode.

When the Copper Busa was released and sales slowed there was a heap of the slower engines backing up in the factory which had to be sold - they had to go somewhere whilst the suzuki engineers threw the go fast bits on the red/black model which was released a short time later.

I know its a cheap shot, but hey they dont come up very often and you have to go in with both boots - red and black boots of course

In the UK they call them BECs (Bike Engined Cars - brilliant, ain't it?) and there's a whole host of different cars. I've seen articles such as mini with two bike engines (Mid engined RWD), a Mid-mounted GSXR-1000 engine in a Smart FourTwo and of course the various iterations of the Lotus Super 7. They use all sorts of engines - apparently the 1000cc kawasaki engine is the best for power vs weight or something like that.

I rang around a while ago and while you can build road registerable Westfields for Australia (self-build only), ADR compliance doesn't include the 'busa engined XTR2, or the 'busa engined "Megabusa".

Haha - I was intending to ask which Clubman chassis - they are all clubman producers. The confusion comes in that the seats are obviously the carbon-kevlar race seats from Caterham (no idea how he got them - the Aussie producer only sells whole cars) and the carbon wheel guards from Birkin. The badge on the front however looks a bit like a PRB chassis badge but not quite. Those guys are really helpful and I'm sure would do their best to help out someone with a desire for a busa engined car... Intriguing. It would go like all hell though. All of 450kgs worth of it. That's the big benefit of bike engined cars - there's no power to weight ratio like a bike engine.

The guy had just bought it and was thinking of getting into club meets ( my mate builds some quick V dubs ... V-FORCE) so was really vauge on details .
Claimed 200hp turbo , and went like stink .

looks like a beast loaf love the individual coils and well thought out placement of the engine.should be a weapon round a track.
