Smart TRE

I was undecided on which unit to use?? Ended up doing the GIpro thing over Xmas. (although couldn't really test it until the Nymboida run this weekend-injury worries) Turned out to be a good choice as the gear indicator showed that my Gear Pos Sensor was faulty when hot, creating half of my problems. Now with both sorted and in place, bike is huge improvement (much to the handbrake's dislike when running the Gwyder to Glen Innes on Saturday. Man that was fun!Very Happy)

G'Day Greg,
I was curious about your above comment about the GPS causing half your problems ? can you elaborate on what was going on, I suspect that the GPS on my 2000 may be cactus causing my bike to intermittantly surge at highway speeds ( suspect it could be swapping from one map to another randomly ). Was your problems anything like this?
Thanks John White.

Just a follow up on this since May this year a few members have found that the older model GEN 1 busa needs to have the Gear Position Sensor (GPS) replaced.
It wears out over time and sends incorrect feed to the ECU causing the bikes to shunt and in same cases even cut out temporarily.
If your GEN 1 bike has inconsistant running issues. I recommend that you at least check if not replace the GPS.

I also have an '03 model. What difference did it make to your bike...I know they're cheap enough, but if it's little or no benefit, I may not bother.

If you have a gen2 busa the gains to part throttle in lower gears is improved and the top speed (186mph) is removed. Tests have been done with these on the track and on the dyno and the results are negligible. If you want better part throttle response in lower gears and would like to go past 300 kph, then purchase it. If you think it will give your bike more horsepower and be quicker in full throttle apps, then perhaps save ya dough. But thats just my opinion..............
