K8 Sidestand

Undecided
Had a runaway of the race stand this morning. The sidestand which I have ground down at the lock position to make it more solid did not hold and unfortunately, dropped the bike on the side. No damage done other than the tie down rod bruising my right inner thigh and bike was protected by the underfelt and carpet in the garage. Found it wasn't as difficult to lift as my old VFR or Blackbird.
Question: is the aftermarket extended sidestand a better product than the original ie. does it make the bike more stable? If it does which supplier would be recommended? Taking the race stand out by oneself seems to have its fair share of possible mishaps.

This is not an answer to you question, but just another way to do your race stand.

Had the same problem my self. Got a block of wood out of a pallet(good size and strength) Wacked the crap out of one side with a ball Pein hammer (to create an indent)

Then pull the bike upright, place the side stand on the block into the indent you created. The bike should balance just slightly left of centre, enabling you to thus put your race stand under the rear and lift!!!!

Was less doing it that way, than I was with the Mrs Helping!!!

Where would we be without our "Race stand assistants"?

Glad you got no damage mate.
