SBK ride

Well my longest day in the saddle yet on the Bus...just as well I sprung for the sheepskin. Great ride at least for the first half departing Canb via Cooma, Bombala, Cann River, Lakes Entrance, Morwell.

Got pulled up sth of Bairnsdale. Curious that he pulled me up, the other bike was 50 in front of me and didn't see the patrol car, it must've been him he got the reading of 134/100. When patrol informed me of speed I asked which bike? Reply was: "Doesn't matter you were travelling together"

FRom the A4 clip board it didn't look like a booking pad...and just after my query he said 'don't worry, we're not about booking you guys, just ensuring your safety.' No ticket and warned me of the 'operation' up the road. Fair bloke.

8am lined up for scrutineering on Mon at PI, filled in the paper work, but 'cos I wasn't booked in 1st avail session was 14:20...too late so off the Canb I had to go.

As for non-stop touring on the Bus...did Cowes to Cann River only stopping for fuel...just about killed my neck, and cramping throttle hand, was beginning to longingly view the R1150RT accompanying me. But then I hit the Snowy Hwy...what fun, no way the RT was in sight.

Canberra to Cowes was 741 kms by my speedo, so with little running around I did 1530 kms all up. Most of the time fuel consumption read 19.6 km/L, at one stage burbling along the slow 80 kms section on PI I bumped into top and cracked 20.2 km/L.

By comparison Dad on his 2cyl 1127 R1150RT BM was taking about 2 Litres more than me at every fuel stop! Gave him heaps, though his defence was wind/weight resistance from 2 panniers and a top box. I had 1x ventura on rack + bagster tankbag.

OEM BT56 made it there & back, so I got 8359 kms so far out of the rear, but now through the wear markers. Just waiting for the new Michelin Pilot dual compound to be avail.
