To start the topics;
I had the air box mod done, however contrary to others putting in BMC or K&N filters, $138 and $160 respectively (aprox), I put in OEM for $50. Just didnt think the extra 1 HP warrants the additional cost.
I felt that the fact that the others were washable also partly justified the increased cost.
G'day guys,
Wow what a pain it's been to get on to the board lately. To be honest I was'nt expecting much different tonight. So some comments will come on filters Sunday night.
Regards Col
I just assumed it was Optusnet or my PC..Was very slow or non existent on a few attempts. Fine now though. Haven't done my airbox yet so any tips will come in handy as soon as I can get a cable for my flexidrive. Regards - Jim
Col,
Since you will be coming back here, could I ask if you have heard whether the bikes are still covered under warranty if the suite of mods is done - ie resisters and pink wires included? I presume a dynotune and airfilter is still OK with Suzuki? What about the air box mod?
Perhaps feedback from a Suzuki rep would be most relevant here. Please don't answer this if you don't think it appropriate. I'm keen to get some work done.
While you're there, I think the Sydney weekend you put on was an exceptional effort - I'm disappointed I couldn't make it but I look forward to finding out more from the participants.
Bob
G'day Guys and Gals,
On the Air Filter front, a good filter, say a K&N or BMC will offer at the best 1-2 HP when re-mapped. In all honesty you will never feel the difference in power. To feel any change in power you will need at least 7-10 HP. Be this as it may I still feel it's a good move as if you can find a few neddies here and there and add them all, you can end up having some real fun.
Say for example you do the air box modification, there's 4, add the filter, now your looking at 6, put on a pipe or mufflers, 10-11 is reasonable, then add in a good re-map and all up your looking at 14-15 HP.
Then there are other mods inside the motor that don't require a total engine strip. Very soon you could be looking at 20 HP. And there is no reason this can't be done!
Warranty really depends on the dealer, however have you noticed in the past some dealers selling new bikes with a full system, air filter and jet kit? I have.
In my opinion, warranty would have to be given even with the modifications listed. How many bike had the latest CCT modification done and had a full system fitted? I will ask someone to comment on this issue when he come back from the GSXR1000 service schools.
Thanks Bob for your comments, it was a top day, and comments like yours make it even more worth while. Maybe we can do it again.
Regards Col
