SUPERBIKE SCHOOL

I'm sure many of you busa hounds (good nickname for somebody!) have attended the Superbike Australia Cornering school, but for those who havent I wanted to mention it on the board - I have to give it a big two thumbs up. I went to the creek yesterday and had a fantastic time. Learnt heaps of stuff and came away a lot more confident about cornering and with techniques to practice. First time out on the circuit is 4th gear only, no brakes (scary) and your speedo is taped up. Actually I rode like that all day on the track - it forces you to use your throttle properly and actually steer through the corner and not chicken out. (Im thinking of making this my practice on the street as well so watch out you sydney riders! the next sydney cornering school is in October and there are 4 levels to do. Do it!!!
By the way the busa seems to have really good clearance - no peg scraping, although I must have been damn close.

I have to agree. I did it Oct last year and had a TOP time. Isn't it SCAREY the first times you go around without brakes! By the end of the day, even when you are allowed to use the brakes, most of us had decided brakes were for nancys and we'd stopped needing them.

I must do level 2.

Just on a humourous note, I went to Wakefield Park a few weeks ago. I tend to get remembered (god knows why) so when a bloke came up and started to chat I just smiled and went along with it. We chatted for a while..... we talked a bit about Superbike School..... it was all going rather well.... finally I said, 'Look, I'm terribly sorry, I am really crap with names, did we meet at Superbike School?' He looked at me, big pause..... and said, 'I was your instructor'.

It was Steve Broughy.
AARRGGHHH!

Guess if I go back I've got a bit of ground to make up if I want to pass.

Hey Fenda,

Put on a centre stand, then you get the longer hero pegs, and they're easier to scrape

I agree on the ride schools.

I attended the Stayupright course (cornering etc) at Oran Park late last summer and really learnt a lot which has stayed with me. One thing that I can do without is the fast boys having a glorified ride day when most of the rest of us were trying to learn stuff while not neccessarily trying to prove that we are the next Doohan, Bayliss, Corser etc.

I will try the SBK school but next year as I plan to do the GP in October this year. Glad to get such a good endorsement.

Here's a thought! We might be able to book all of the interested Sydney/Newcastle "Busas in for a special.
