That was a fairly big hit, more like a combined speed of 60mph or more .
Also there not made to have stress from the sides.
The original 'busa did have that rear sub-frame issue - but later models dont suffer from the problems (I think from 2001 onwards were ok). Mine was a 2001 and it was fine.
I've never heard of any other issues with the frames of busa's.
The Gixxer 05 problems would make me a lot more wary about the next model - especially if Suzuki brings the dry weight down to 195kg or less (which is around a 20kg reduction on the current model) because you have to believe that a good portion of those reductions will be lighter alloys and thinner walls on anything solid - including the frame.

It's a throw away society that we live in right ?
So if you throw away (trowel) your new Gixxer, you throw it away for good, can't have everything can ya ?
I read a story about someone in the states coming off one at a track day, it fell to bits according to the owner
Horses for courses. Just have to change what you use these things for.
I have a 2000 with the aluminium frame, but never carry a pillion or luggage. I do have the single-sided exhaust, but I figure two out of three ain't bad. Mine is fine, checked weekly, it's not going to snap.
If they are shaving weight off these 1k bikes then they are meant to be race repilicas and shouldn't even have pillion pegs.
I'm not a fan of bikes (outside proper tourers like a cruiser, some BMWs or Goldwing) having a pillion on 'em.
The more people on bikes the better. Encourage your pillion to get their own bike.
erm... RaZ, think about this a bit
the K5 has been around how long?
the busa has been around how long?
doesn't take all that long for problems like that to manifest, and personally, the busa I wrote off, its frame was fine ---------------------------------
Who Dares Bins
oh yeah my frame was fine, I should have worded that a little better hehehe
but it did get me think tho thats for sure
