Just after I managed to convince my wife bike riding isn't too unsafe, we came across a rider and pillion fatality today around 4pm. Couldn't se the details, but at a TEE intersection and fairly obviously a car and the bike had collided in the middle. Both were obviously turning the corner and..... Just makes it more important to take care next year eh??

Toll hits 40 with double fatal

THE nation's holiday road toll has risen to 40 after a motorcycle rider and his passenger were killed north of Perth.

The 25-year-old male rider and his female passenger, aged in her early 20s, were killed when their motorbike and a car collided on the corner of Karrinyup Road and Jones Street, Stirling, north of Perth.

The accident happened at 3.40pm (WST) today.

A police spokesman said the circumstances surrounding the accident were not yet clear.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the crash but it was not known whether any passengers were in the vehicle.

Police also were yet to identify the motorcycle's pillion rider, he said.
