Scorpio alarm remote battery WARNING

Be warned about your battery AAA. Firstly Ive test run the battery on all time doesnt last more then 3-4 weeks even best Duracell. When battery is down an almost flat you go to bike to turn alarm off but you CANT! No manuel off button only remote, so when batteries fuked your fuked. Always make sure you have spare to turn alarm off.

No point in buying batteries as they dont last, best solution is get recharger for rechargable batts like duracell or energiser. and always have 1 on charge when using other. Chargers are abt $25, energiser supplies 2 aa with unit, dura nothing. either way u have to get extra aaa for abt $12 the pair.

Pete (pitstop) pointed out thats one of the reasons he wont hook up alarm to ignition, if not on ignition you cud ride bike allbeit go deaf but will eventually reset itself.

Anyway so be warned about this battery scenario...........I almost didnt make it to DB's funeral, had spare but frag if I knew where it was, eventually found it.

Thanks for that Volvi. By coincidence, I keep a torch under the hump for night-time emergencies, etc... and it is powered by 3x AAA's, so I'll know to grab one of those if I get stuck.

Also, if you lock your remote by holding it (Button No. 4) for a few seconds, the screen stays on. If you lock it and keep your finger on the button the screen goes clear with just the clock and the battery level showing... and that may make your battery last a heck of a lot longer. I've had mine for over 2 weeks and the battery still shows it's 100%.

mate, you better have your earplugs in too if your perimeter sensor is on as you rummage through your hump, bare that in mind.

That is some good lateral thinking on both of you. and a good laugh to boot. Maybe 'actions ons' should be quickly whack your helmet on, to dull the sound, open the hump and then rummage for the torch to replace the battery in the handset. or...tape a spare AAA to the inside pocket of your jacket. aww poo. I was going to steal that cranky cat with the attitude.

With the racket a bike makes, who,s gonna pay attention to the alarm going off. Non biker's probably prefer the noise to the bike actually rolling.

I agree with wearing your ear plugs. Even crap ones - just shove something in your ears and give 'em a chance.

Volvi - I have the alarm on at home, but not the perimeter as there is too much movement near the bike shed (temple) and it is sensitive - I really think the only time I will use it is when we go away for weekends and its parked outside the pub etc to stop the "creatures'" that roam in the night!

I turn the remote off after using it without fail and I've just replaced it after 4-5 weeks, good thing I have a battery charger for AAA's at home - the way to go I think.
