Mine looked like that .
Two bolts secure the pickup/strainer,unless you have had a problem in the engine(broken parts, buggered clutch etc) its probably not worth striping it down . Lots of surface area in the strainer , and if you inadvertantly get something on the wrong side of the mesh it goes straight into the oilpump on startup <i></i>
Alot of work to get the sump off, and how many Busa's have lubrication issues under normal road use??
Mind you, mine was restricted quite a bit which wasnt acceptable for what the bike is intented for.
If for some reason you are taking the headers off then whilst you are there drop the sump off... buy a gasket in advance. <i></i>
If you should blowup a clutch or any other engine failures take it out a check it.
When the crankshaft got damaged in my motor the amount of bearing material in that screen was incredible! damaged the pump as well both were replaced didn't bother to clean it just too much crap in there.
As Gazza said normal use and maintainance will see you through for a while.
