Chopper Busa has 23800 Ks on the clock. I have just returned from a 2200 K trip. I adjusted the chain before leaving and during a walk round one morning noticed that the chain was quite loose. I wheeled it on about 10 metres and bugger me if the chain was tight as hell and I could only compress it about a half an inch. Wheel it on a little more and it was loose again.
I am pretty fussy with my chain maintenance and was expecting between 30000 and 40000 Ks from the chain and sprockets. Oh yeah, the sprockets are fine, they have plenty of life left in them.
So whadayareckon, is this mileage all I can expect out of the OEM chain? Secondly, can I keep riding or can it become dangerous. I have only ever had this problem once before on another bike and it turned out to be a bodgey chain and that bike did not have the horsepower of the Busa.
Comments please. Regards
