GSX1300R engine weight
#1
Does anybody have info on the Hayabusa GSX1300R engine weight.

I need to know the weight of the engine incl fluids and radiator but not including gearbox, clutch or exhaust.

I will use it in an experimental 3 wheel offroad vehicle and the weight will impact stability. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The radiator weight exactly 1452grams--let me clarify this figure. It includes the radiator cap, the temp sensor only. The engine I have not weighed. Many other parts I have .

hope this is of some assistance

Thanks - its a start.

Do you have any contacts that may have a wrecked bike that would be able to be dismantled and components weighed.

How hard is it to obtain a wrecked bike for the engine in Australia - or even just the engine, loom and computer?

Knowing the engine weight is one thing, but you may wish to reconsider using a busa engine. Apparently Suzuki do not allow purchase of the enginer by itself. You will need to purchase the whole bike and remove the engine at your expense. This gives you time to ride the busa, which in turn may cause you to think it sacrilege to deface it.

Let me know when your selling shares in the off road tri-mobile.

The supply of busa engines in Australia is very much a hit and miss affair but they are always about if you search. Victorian and NSW wreckers are your best bet. when they do come in though they sell fast. Expect to pay a min of $5000AUS. Th eother option is to buy a written off bike from the auctions and expect to pay between $5000 to $9000 depending on damage/year/mileage.
Victorian m/c wreckers, Metropolitan in Sydney and a place in western Sydney by the name of Motorcycledisposals.com.au sells/auctions written off bikes---quite a few busas have gone thru there

Which country are you based?
In the USA there are many motors for sale

I'm in Western Australia. I will keep an eye out for auctions on the site you mentioned. It will be at least 18 months till I need the engine so that should be a good option.

I really would like to know that the weight is within the range for the vehicle design before i fork out the $5000- $9000 but I guess I can sell it again if it isnt.

If anyone out there is doing mechanical work on their busa and has an opportunity to weigh engine components I would be incredibly grateful. I'll take you for a ride in my two seater vehicle when its finished!

As mentioned Dennis Canton (the motorhead ) builds turbo systems in Cleveland Ohio . He might know but a better bet would be to post a thread on the Suzukihayabusa.com board.

The Motorhead is the SH.ORG sister site. Dennis owns both of 'em.

If you don't get an answer on either of these, then you won't get it anywhere. Before you ask, do a search at SH.ORG, it's a good bet that it's been posted before.
