Left home this morning at 6.30, the Mrs was snoring and I couldn't get back to sleep. So, jumped on the bike and did a quick trip to Akaroa , over the twistys to the Hilltop as the sun was coming up and nice to see a big Ocean Liner in the harbour in the distance , no traffic and stopped in Akaroa to eat my cold Vegemite toast packed in my bag and enjoy the scenery. Fantastic and a fast trip.
Best ride I've had for a long while, and it's often a better ride when you're travelling solo and doing your own thing.
Only minor problem is I now have a little hole in the sole of my left Gaerne boot due to corner touchdowns and the right boot is nearly there too, must be the price you pay for the Buell pegs I guess.

Many rides have been great, fast, no cops and gr8 fun.
worst- can't say they were worst, just another adventure
2006 brand new gixxer, sleep deprivation club till 3am. No alcohol or drugs. Go for a rie at 8am.Byron to surfers thro murwillambah and hinze dam.not flowing, mistakes everywhere. This is my favorite knee down everywhere road. Reach nerang. I lane split and go to front of traffic waiting to turn right. Green light and I take off like a bat outta he'll, then I am getting t boned by car fully cranked into corner. Thrown 50ft bike in 3 pieces, road closed off in aambulance to GC hospital. Apparently there was a red right arrow.5lol nothing broken full leathers and back protection. Insurance pays out Hyundai which was written off and I get a new gixxer1 k.sore as hell.
2008 riding New wr250r from Penrith to Byron. Looking the part in off road gear. Great day till sUN went down in Gloucester.200 kms to walcha.0deg froze to death, could not speak or take off helmet. Thought will die if I dnot find accommodation.(same happened riding to threadbo with the hope of partying with skibunnies at midnight,0 deg officially and threabo was completely shut for the night
2012 looking at map in WA decided to ride WAPET track. Thought to myself piece of piss, only 500 kms, so leave Sat morning. No one knows where I am and I don't carry any communication devices.150 kms was easy dirt, so have lunch . Then in the next 5 hrs do 50kms. Track is deep sand and overgrown with wattle.Track opens up and I think let's finish the rest tommorow early, great nite coffee nd bigfire.next morning riding along meet some anthropologists who we're shocked to meet me, anyway after some chatting I replenish my water supply of 5 ltrs.220 kms to bitumen near 80 mile beach.9am in the morning. By 5 pm have done 100 ins ducked, 400 mls of water left, dehydrated. Powdery sand deep and !overgrown. No firewood. Anyway decide to cut across track off piste early morning and get lost. Find my way back and I am in the zone pinning it, track is sand with wattle on either side and scrub in centre and I am skirting the centre hoping not to catch my boot and break my leg. I wanted to have Coffee but have 200mls of water so decide to wait till I reach bitumen. Concentration wandering come into chicane too hot miss the wattle on the left but right catches my handlebar and flicks me about 30ft and then bike lands on me.thought am f****d broken knee, collarbone and ribs. Got up and ffound I could move inspite of pain. Told myself it's goin to hurt more once adrenaline wears off. Pinned it and reached 80 mile beach.acl and other injuries. Rode 450kms to port headland hospital. The African nurse thought I was crazy when I told her the story to fill the paperwork and laughed when she asked me if u had another MVA. I said yep it's actually the 5th anniversary of the last one on the gixxer.after CT and MRi etc they asked me what I wanoted to do. I said I want some elastic bandage around my knee and I will be on my way home. Where is home? They asked. Just 700kms west inside the desert-Punmu community u said. It was about 9pm and they said you are not going anywhere and made me stay for 2 days and hobble on crutches and I discharged myself against the New Vietnamese doctor who was nit impressed in her first day when I walked in and she told me I should use the crutches and rest and I said I am here to return the crutches and am going to ride 450kms on the bike. Knee and torso was sore for months.
Don't tempt fate,TAUNT IT!

Worst so far, rebuilt a 86' wideglide, full bare frame nut and bolt job. Test ride it and get some truck tyre wedged under the front mudguard locking the front wheel at 110kph. Ground out my left elbow removing the olcranon and tearing out the tricep and extension muscles. No gloves, no jacket bear arms. Degloved both palms and took out my right thumb tearing off the anterior ligament and ripping tendons.
Best was hooting a zx10 through the national park on the way to the gong and getting that "in the zone" feeling when the corners just seem right, you know? Magic. Well apart from my first ride on a 99' copper busa that is.
