Hands up?

Hands up anyone who has insisted your mate have a go on your bike and they drop it before they even take off? Only minor scratches, but because it is so pre-loved, it didn't bother me. More than anything it was that I wanted him to know how awesome the bike is and he has scared the shit out of himself. He is adamant he pays for getting the paint fixed but I told him if he gets the balls to jump back on we will call it even.

To be honest it was so comical I am still laughing.

If he'd dropped a Hayabusa, I could forgive him. If he dropped a 99 red/black, he deserves to die

One day a mate rolled up to the Amberlight cafe at Lobethal on a Busa he had just bought. Without any previous warning he handed me the key. I thought about riding it for a few minutes, thought about insurance, sat on it , sweat a bit, put the key in, sweat a little more and then rode it. What a buzzClap Was a great memory to have as we left lobethal on the busa bash ride this year

Haha! I get not wanting people to drop my bike but I don't have many bike riding mates, I would rather he get the Busa bug than graduate to another sportster that's cool because it is tough and different. You know, tough like guys in a gang ride them, and different like all the other million sportsters that are different. I would rather he go the 600 then 1000 Japanese bike route. Or even the Ducati poser route, at least they are beautiful bikes.

It leads to the question, would you swap busas with a mate for a couple of hours?

If I know the person has heaps of riding experience and they feel totally confident to ride my 'busa then I have no problem letting them ride it. My bike isn't insured, and it's accepted that if they break it, they fix it. It's also accepted that they ride it carefully. In my judgement if I feel they wont respect it, or I haven't seen them ride, or don't have someone vouch for them then I wont. A gut thing.

I've had heaps of guys just offer their bike to me, and if I have time, I nearly always accept.

One thing I love doing is riding all different bikes. I've swapped rides on some incredible machines. Lots I could never justify spending that much money for, and some that I just wouldn't want to own.

There's a group coming in April on Vincents . . . will offer a swap ride with the 'busa if anyone is interested.

But that's just me.

What can I say... My mates 24 yr old son is riding my 01 right now. A bike is just a machine, even though the busa is about the best 2 wheeled machine I know!!!! I want to share my love of it to as many as possible.

BUT... As the old saying goes.. "You break it, you bought it!"
