Oil filter access - lower fairing split ?
#1
Hey guys,
I've read that it's possible to access the oil filter by just splitting the lower fairing & spreading.

Does anyone use this method ?

Any tips on what to remove for this method would be appreciated as i'm not confident about taking the whole RH fairing off after reading some of the stories about breaking tabs etc.
If there's a way to stuff it up i'll find it Lol3

Alternatively, if anyone in the Goldy/ Bris area is prepared to help out & give me a few pointers, i'm happy to come to you.
Thanks guys.

Cheers,
Mozza.

Mate, never hear of it. But here is some good advice: somwhere on this site (I think in technical section) there is a link to a workshop manual. I am bevildered that there are still riders that do not look or check there first. You will find there in the maintenance section what needs to removed for a filter change and how to do it correctly. Broken tabs and bits are most offen the result of someone trying to take a shortcut by avoiding the correct procedure. It is your bike, learn about it and educate yourself how to look after it properly so you will spend money on bling instead of avoidable disasters. Pi_thumbsup Pm me if cant find it.
Here is the link to it

I can give you a hand with it if your not sure. Taking the fairing off is a cinch after the first go.

Get the manual, shows you everything you need to know.

Yeh mate, no need to fully remove the right fairing. When looking at the right hand side fairing simply start removing from the bottom left working upwards and forwards. Swing the fairing out enough to access the filter. Simply refit in the reverse order. Ensure the large plastic pin towards the front engages squarely into the rubber gromet as this is the one most likely to give you grief. I fully remove the small section at the very rear of the right fairing. Once you have done it a couple of times it will seem much easier. Hope this helps, Paul.
