I think the reality is that its alot easier to do a 10.3 on a dead stocker than it is to do a 10.0 if its lowered 3 inches.Its true what bruce said though,practice makes all the difference.On the horsepower calculator it shows the weight and hp for performance gain equation.The lowering for gain one requires talent to capitalise on as does the stretched swingarm.To generate a bit of competition amongst varied bike specs,lets just do total bike and rider weight versus time,with a 10kg per tenth.Then hp as a second factor when it becomes a problem? <i></i>

For what it's worth, I'm a fat little fucker so weight not on my side. Maybe mid 80kgs. But looking back over my runs from when I started in 2005 at 11 + the difference is exactly what Bruce said, practice and more practice. I'm sure dropping a kilo or two for pipes, and the 10HP they generally give is worth a bit, and I'm sure the lowering helps too, just to allow better launches. But if I look at the advances I made it was really down to the 60' times. That's practice. My best runs came after a few sessions at Motorplex where I had lots of runs, maybe a dozen a night and tghen you can practice the 60' launches.
I'd say I can go quicker if I was lighter, but I doubt if I would automatically drop 0.1 just through that alone. I'd say the effect of weight gets less and less the faster you can punt the bike, so maybe if I shed 10kg I might gain half that now or even a bit less. Who knows, but I'd say the best advise is still to go like f*** until you get under 10s then start worrying a bit! <i></i>

Anyhing less than mid 80 and you risk getting sand kicked in your face at the beach.
Traction also plays a big part, only on a few occasions has the track grip been good and the track not been covered in shit. Grippy tyres are all important too! <i></i>

well I guess i will find out for myself whether weight is a key issue cause at the last meet i weighed in at 118.8 kg and ran a 10.66 @ around 134mph i think and I am hoping to be around the 103kgs by the time the next shootout is upon us on the 14th April I am at 113.8kgs now and hopefully at my goal weight for the June Shootout Cheers

Dan have you been on the diet if no i suggest you get some info on it before you say its shit and as to starving myself I aint hungry mate I am just eating the right food for once and if i have lost 13 cm of muscle from my gut well so be it but i cant see that being right can you Cheers
