I do love a touch of the thread hi-jackeration.
A couple of photos from today of belting through the canyons on a harley. If ever you are coming out this way, you must do it, it is the best fun. Turns out I'm not bad on a Harley!! The bloke who took me out told the person who owned the shop that I was one of the best riders he has seen (CLEARLY they all ride Harleys in this town).
My fatboy. It was a 2011 model and caused a bit of a ruckus everywhere I took it. Beautiful bike, matt black paint job, fuel injected, nice and strong and oddly nimble. I did scrape a running board, but I suspect that is normal.
I got quite comfortable on the straight bits (there were corners!) so I started taking photos with the camera I had in my pocket. That is my mate Spencer up ahead in Red Rock Canyon, he took me out for the day.
And then he took me to a biker bar. I could hear the banjos, it was in the middle of nowhere on an unmarked road, surrounded by the rusted carcasses of old cars and bikes. It was pitch dark inside and all blokes. It was BRILLIANT!!!!! Spencer made me stand under the sign.
So the bike? Surprisingly nimble and gratifyingly strong. LOADS of torque and very deliverable power. I would hate to have to pull up in a hurry, the brakes weren't great and it was a thundering beast of a thing. Also, the clearance was woeful, but once Spencer realised I was comfortable, we started playing through the bends in the mountains. That might not happen all that often.
Lucky I found this out on the last day, otherwise I would have done nothing but hire a bike every day and go out exploring!
