Exactly, so how does making a school zone into a 40km/h zone stop children from running out into traffic? - It doesn't. Fencing and bridges going over the road are the only things that can top that from happening, but the various State Governments are a lot more interested in revenue than they are in "saving lives", which is why we have 40km/h zones instead of something to actually prevent children from getting killed.

Like I said earlier, this is really an emotional issue. A lot of people go along with it simply because they are using their emotions rather than logic.
Emotions say "My child might get run over, so let's slow everyone down!", where logic would suggest "If children are running out onto the road, let's make it impossible for them to do so."
"casting dispersions on others credability." And their illiteracy.

I dont mind the fixed cameras in black spot areas as they generaly have warning signs about them and they do slow people down where needed, what I do despise is the pricks that hide in the bushes or behind bus stops or whatever, they are purley in it for the money and not bothered by safety. I am not sure if it still is, but it used to be an offense to flash your lights to warn other drivers about a radar, this also gets the desired effect of sloweing drivers down, but without being fined. If the cops were not in it for the money surely this would be a good thing as it stops most from speeding anyway. I believe it is morally wrong to hide in the shadows or use tactics (unmarked cars/vans/utes/bikes) to fool people, those coppers are no better than pedifiles, hiding and lurking waitng to pounce on unsuspecting victims. I dont know how this could be legal, imagine if we did what they (cops) do, we would be locked up, rant over.

Funny world we live in. If you compare the infrastructure in countries around the world you generally find that Germany aside, the better the infrastructure, the harsher the limits.

Logic talks, statistics walk.
