Ok this has just started to happen.
When riding after a short time and motor warmed up.
Stopped at lights or a junction and in neutral...straight ahead position.
The rpms sudenly rise and fall very rapidly about 50 to 100 rpm and once only.
This happens without me touching the throttle. Its almost as if a sensor or cold start system is at fault. Anyone have this happen?
Bike is an 06 with 8500 on the clock and no mods.

Choke cable is stuck on a bit?

I wish... but no. I currently just spent an hour and a half drilling the bottom fairing bolt out due to some f..kwit cross threading the thing. I have the fairing off and am going to see if I can find the GPS and check it out for loose wires etc...same for the TPS.
Keep the idea's coming and if I find out what my problem is I will post it up

Didn't find any obvious problem...didn't find the GPS either...its on the RH side under the outer cover. After having all the hassle of drilling that fairing bolt out I couldn't be f....d taking the other side off. I did find the wiring harness for the GPS and pulled the connector apart though. Will have to see if it was this when I take it for a spin.
I do wash my bikes on a regular basis and wondered if moisture found its way in there. Having said this I see many posts regarding washing bikes, Jap bikes in particular, and wondered what the Japanese Navy is like...after all a little water has such a drastic effect upon their motorcycles...hell! it must be almost impossible on their submarines!!!

Probably not, but do you have a TRE fitted?
I wondered what was going when I first fitted a gear position sensor with inbuilt TRE.

No TRE..I think...I did buy the bike second hand. Where do most fit the TRE's?

At the back of the motor and underneath the rear of the tank when you have it raised. If you don't know what you're looking for, it sort of blends in with the rest of the wiring.

Thats the GPS connector yes? I don't have a tre fitted so its not that. I do have a very slight idle flucuation...about 20 to 50 rpm. The sync is fine so I figure its got to be something to do with the fueling. I wonder if the prevous owner had an exhaust on and had the ECU flashed...I do get, what I would call, a higher than normal temp reading during stops and hotter weather...not so high as to be problematic. Anyway after I sprayed WD40 around and pulled the GPS connector it 'seems' to have gone away....fingers crossed!!

Maybe you got to service your throttle body and fuel injectors.Cheaper way to pour a bottle of fuel system/injector cleaner.

I am going to try that...will be going on a long ride soon so will tip a bottle in B4 and see what happens!
