Tacho does go past 6k now [updates]

Thanks for everyones suggestions and offers.
Got my bike back to do some work myself.
Spent all night fitting back the '00 tank and pump, un-modding all the things I had done to fit the '01 on.
It's all good so far! The bike hammers hard and the long-term 2.6-3k hunting has almost disappeared!
Oh, it goes to redline too.

So now, that leaves me with the question, is it the filters or the pump that was the prob.
The small white filter looks fine, rust, but not much of it.
The big black thing that forms the structure around the pump, when I shake fuel around then out of it, it comes out with a brown tint.
Now the thing looks like it's sealed up pretty well.
They cost $400+ [? GDYUP] wtf?

What's this inline-filter talk I keep hearing about, whereabouts are you fitting it onto?


Shredder - the 05 pump without sender, is that w/o filter as well?

Slong, if you want to fit and in-line filter to the 99/00 busa. It goes in the inlet fuel line to the fuel pump. That is the line that runs from the rear of the tank to the back end of the pump.
I have seen it fitted midway along the rubber line by a couple of our members.
It makes it a bit of a squeeze fitting the line back in between the frame and the pump but it should be ok. Good idea to wrap the filter in some sarking or something to help protect it.
