There's the problem!! You hit it on the head! The Apricot has been trained by Simmo to only go in straight lines for 10 seconds at a time.Pi_tongueLol3

I think you made the right choice too Rod. I've been in that situation before and came close to wiping myself out trying to keep up with faster riders.

Count your self lucky you can ride a bike like that at that pace all the time sorry this body cant and i was just about ready for a rest allready so i think i made the right choice.

I agree Pommie better Rod left when he did as he would have been way in over his head if he thought the 1st 40k of the trip was to fast.

Rod i'm not really having a go at you but i wish you said it was bike trouble. I'd be a bit embarrassed to say that 1st bit of pace was to much.
Ive taken out plenty of guys on that road before on all sorts of bikes & i dont know of anyone on any type of bike that has had a problem .
I dont rate myself as a good rider i have to work on it every ride.
I just dont know why you would have 2 busa's & dont use them.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to have some rider training to allow you to ride the bikes you have instead of another financial outlay which wont cure the problem. Better to have the skills & have a chance out there instead of hopeing for the best.
I know which way id would be spending the money.
just a thoughtPi_thumbsup

Are you serious Pommie? No one asked for anyone to keep up, just come out and join in. Great when everyone has a go. We had barely left the urban boundaries and hadn't even broken any posted limits when the 'Apricot' dearly departed the group. See you next time out RodAction-smiley-083 you'll have a blast.
I ain't a fast rider but enjoyed some spirited pace, great roads, good scenary and top company as much as any ride I've been on.
Love to see all of you on the next one!Grouphug

My point was that some days you dont feel like its going together right and on such a day discretion plays the better part of valour. While no one wants to be left behind even if theres no requirement to keep up human nature dictates that you want to push yourself and not get left behind, then you make a mistake and your day turns to bollox quicksmart. It's a good thing when you can kick your impulse into to touch and let common sense take over. thats all

I will let you no what was wrong next time i see ya shane and then you will probely understand im not going to bullshit like some and say the bike was doing this and that when it was me . No the pace was not to fast i think that little joke has gone to far.
But i think i made the best decision so a lesson to others if your not 100% there let someone no you are leaving (as i did) So i dont think this thread was a good one as i was meant to go up the coast that night for a bbq as well and would not have been home to after lunch sunday and with my phone out of action if i did not log on to the forum sat there could of been at least 1 or 2 that was woried about me.
