Jorge Lorenzo headed a field of four regular MotoGP riders on the final day of testing in Sepang, with the second fastest lap of the three day visit.

The Spaniard put in a 2'00.705 lap in the final hour of action at the Malaysian circuit, using Michelin qualifiers on his Yamaha M1 to make him the French tyre factory's fastest rider of the second test in south east Asia.

With Nicky Hayden heading home early after completing his work yesterday, and test riders Yoshihiko Fujiwara and Wataru Yoshikawa aiding the Bridgestone side of the partitioned Fiat Yamaha garage, Lorenzo was the only man on track to be using Michelin material on day three.

It wasn't all good news for Lorenzo, however. He was unable to complete a race simulation pencilled in on the agenda and returned to the garage after just five laps of the intended run. An early appearance at 10am nonetheless provided the reigning 250cc World Champion with the opportunity to put in 23 more laps than any other rider on track.

Team-mate Valentino Rossi was also prevented from making a full race run, with the red flag shown when he was on an extended outing owing to a fuel deficiency from Kawasaki test rider Olivier Jacque. The Italian was in the final stages of his race simulation when the flag was shown, so will still have gathered the necessary data to help his cause.

San Carlo Honda Gresini duo Shinya Nakano and Alex de Angelis concluded their work with shortened appearances, both racking up less than 25 laps onboard the Honda RC212V.

The satellite team expect to have the new engine at their disposal for testing in Jerez in nine days time, with this week's work mainly focused on new parts and Bridgestone compounds.

Olivier Jacque and Tamaki Serizawa were not tasked with further testing on the Kawasaki screamer engine debuted at the last test in Sepang, instead continuing to develop new parts for the Japanese factory.

The next test for the MotoGP riders is an official visit to the southern Spanish circuit of Jerez, where the premier class action will take place from February 16th-18th.
