Rotor spacing is further out to lign up with the radial mount calipers.Busa triples are further apart than gixxer1000 triples.gen 2 rotor spacing is 145mm(outside to outside).gixxer 1000 rotor spacing is 136mm.Guess whats the difference in triples width between a gixxer1000 and a busa.drumroll please.putting it another way gixxer forks will fit a gen1 if a gen2 wheel is fitted provided a copper sleeve is fitted to the bottom triple as the gixxer forks are thinner there.I,m surprised they spaced the rotors so far out,thats a backwards engineering step.perhaps the smaller disc diameter and steeper head angle out weigh this.It would be interesting to see if the goose neck angle is actually different or if they have just pulled the forks and lifted the rear and lowered the rear subframe to hide this?this bike would definately benefit from light rotors being so far from the centre axis.your not cooking a fish under there are you simmo?Lol3

You can fell the heat coming up under the tank a lot more, I don't know why they have done that it has no ventilation at all in there to let the heat out Confused

The advertising blurb about the front brakes says that as well as the new front rotors being smaller in diameter they are 1mm thicker than the old to assist in preventing heat build up.
They are also wider out in the airflow to assist cooling.

thicker rotors i can understand as the old rotor and the new more powerful calipers on a heavier faster bike spells warpage.further out for cooling is just marketing spin or the gixxer 1000 rotors wouldn,t be 9mm further in.I wonder why they didn,t just fit gixxer triples and longer handle bars.I considered radial calipers in busa triples but didn,t think pushing the rotors further out was a good idea.Its like a small crankshaft on the front axle the wider it is the harder it is to change direction because of gyroscopic force.thats why a twin changes direction easier than a four because the crankshaft is shorter.If from what i,ve heard the wheels are the same weight they would have to be lighter in the rim which helps change of direction as the hub of the front wheel is very wide,looks alright though.When tyres come up for renewal(guidoLol3) it,d be interesting how they steer with a 190/55 rear tyre.They make a big differnce to gen 1,s tip in effort.If only they had the throttle smoothness of a k1200 i,d own one.Best throttle smoothness(zero snatch) of any bike i,ve ridden.small bike throttle confidence, and big bike power.Pi_thumbsup

Hi Tim,
Yeah I saw that post as well and the discussion that followed.
I think that the boot scuff marks could be avoided but it depends on personal riding style.
I'll be keeping a real close eye on the corrosion issue though but remember the European and Americans are in their winter and they spray salted urine on the roads to get rid of the ice.
Fortunately we don't have to worry about that level of corrosive atmosphere.

Things that are different are everything, what I think thay have done is stuck a 1340 motor in a GSXR1000....
I pulled the side panel off last night what a job for the first time Confused the old one I would have of in 2 min this one over an hour
