Front Bike Stand
#1
Has anyone out there used a front stand on a Hayabusa ? ? I'm talking about the ones that lift at the steering head, not the bottom of the forks)

Anderson stands will do the job.

The trick is to run the front wheel up onto a 2' thick plank.

Then the stand will go under without cracking the nose cone.

I'll see if I can find a better pic. (Well better than Revs cheese forks pic)

Cheers, Phil.

Confirm method and stand. But if you want to change wheels, it's still tight. I actually go up two planks for wheel changes. Bit harder but same princilpal.

I had a lone of one for a while that went under each fork leg,
I tryed a few time and chicken shitted out each time almost droping the bike time & time again, them I found out you had to put the rear stand on first still felt a bit risky but, but sometime the balance point could very easy go the wrong way, the one Giddy has looks the go.

I have twice seen pro mechanics use car jack lifting right side up against bike on side stand with enough space in removing front tyre. oem exhaust pipe can take the lift not the thin after markets 4 into 1. was told the trick is knowing just how much to raise and not to raise.

Thanks guys, might give the front Anderson stand a go. I'll take it a bit easier on the patio though, Phil must have a very understanding wife. Edited by: Mazzick at: 11/6/06 10:01 am

personally i would go for Sharps front stands that have various head stem pins to suit the bike, you can find that under fitment on theyre site. and a chrome stand.

On the odd occaision I have been known to use the race stand on the rear and the scissor jack from the car with a nice block of timber under the exhaust at the front but clear of the fairings - when changing front tyre - seemed stable enough.

Yep. Me too Ruffy. I do it that way and I never looked any further since it works fine. I do take the precaution of AD straping it to the overheads in the workshop if I have the wheel off , just in case some idiot leans on it.

The top pic is Revs bike guys. (And his tiled floor.)

And yes his Misses is very understanding as is mine. They know we have a problem.

We are just not willing to seek help................

Another glorious ride into the sunset...........

Not quite the end Giddy, them SharpRacing stands you be using there, not Anderson.

I have been in touch with Chris Anderson this week and he said they did have a problem with the pin being so small to fit the head stem hole (even though it was special hardened steele) that it flexed and the stand touched the nose cone. (So be careful with the cheap Chinese ebay ones IMO)

I linked him to your pics and he said he would send me out a Anderson Mk 3 to evaluate. The Mk3 is height and angle adjustable. Click here (4th one Down)

When I talked to Chris on the phone he did say they have only tried a Mk4 (which is lever operated) and had not tried the Mk3 with a busa and on the basis of the Mk4 test did not recommend them but is awaiting my feedback.

Will keep you all informed when the stand arrives

Cheers
Darryl
