Bucking Bronco Busa
#1
I still find that when moving off from cold, even after 1-2 min. warm up, the busa bucks and rolls, so to speak. You open the throttle but nothing there till after half a second and tends to buck or 'hunt'. When the engine is hot at normal operating temp. it's fine, but never smooth until then. Have never found it any different even after service. Seems to be common amongst busas pre 2001. Les now says on his '01 that never happens and is always smooth, were there any changes introduced? any explanations please?

choke on or of partial ? reckon that motors still cold and if its fine once at normal operating temp then its fine everything on a motor is made to run at normal operating temp if its to rich it will run probably better cold and smoother but dont mean it is correct how long since tuned? BBB

There are two things that happen when the ECT sensor reads low temperatures, as during warm up.
1. The ignition is advanced up to 9 degrees (to speed up the warm up) and
2. the mixture is richened.
From your symptoms I would suggest that the fuel bypass strainer is getting blocked (richening mixture further when cold) and the engine is running too rich.
An easy way to check is to disconnect the ECT at the thermostat housing and test. When the ECT is disconnected the ECU reverts to an 80 degree voltage and there is no change to mixture or ignition timing.

G'day Volvi,

I'd say you and your Busa are due for a good service. And I mean a good one. It's time a number of items were looked at.

When you have chosen somone to service your Busa do get the BTL and the GPS both modified, riding the Busa will never be the same!

I am having incerdible issues with the clutch in the cold weather even after 3-4 kms, and this is just after a recent 12k service.

I had an instance where it went from nothing to fully engaged not once but three times at the same major intersection, regardless of how smoothly I realeased the cluth or at what revs.

Appears a very thorough warm is required before leaving the driveway, as the above is probably the closest I have come to a serious incident in may years.

I have had that happen often, they say the BTL mod would change all that. The only way is to move off real slow and when safe open some more, thats what I have had to learn to do.

Yes Col, time for good service, though am not convinced that will change much, but the mods should do something good. Seeing I intend to keep the bike alot longer before updating, I intend to add some mods.

G'day Guys,

I'll say this one last time. Get the BTL and GPS modified,
you will be blown away.

If you have a problem beliving what I say, then forget all that has been said and don't bother to comment on this subject again. If you have some form of open mind, trust me this works. Give me a call if you want.

Hi Col

Does one need a re-map after the GPS mod?

Locobus : Yeah, me too. Nearly got nailed by cages several times. My dealer advised me to have the BACK TORQUE LIMITER welded up. I had this done & no more problems with in/out clutch engagement. A bit agricultural & in my opinion the BTL was a good idea badly executed.
