speed sensor ???

Happy new year All Quick question the alloy speed sensor on outside of front sprocket has come off bike in three pieces when changing sprocket as I don't need the speedo (drag bike ) do I need to replace for any other reason ? Thanks for any assistance that can be given.

I shouldn't think so a rev counter would be more on my mind for a drag bike may come up with an error code though.

it does not miss the speed trigger if you leave it off the sprocket
