I reckon there is nothing better than being required to driving the shitter out of someones else's HSV Commodore?
I drive the Team Medical Doctors at Phillip Island yesterday. I have to drive FAST when the call 'Victor 3, scramble' is made and get to the scene as quickly as possible. When I get there the Chief Medical Officer Doctor/surgeon jumps out and runs for it. i pop the special locks on the boot (some heavy drugs are onboard) and grab two special bags the doctor will need. I then help him with the body parts etc. We wear triple layer fire suits and balaclavas (nice, on a hot day like yesterday) and carry extinguishers and other stuff. Sometimes we are the first car on the scene and get things moving before the fire fighters and rescue arrive. The doctors are unbelievable the way they hop straight in to the thick of it. They are volunteers too; no pay - but you do get lunch in a paper bag, in the car! I really get a kick out of it and the car is pretty good; race suspension, bigger brakes (bigger radiator - sitting all day with the a/c going). The cars are pretty much donated by Holden. The HSV is the only one road registered. The other 2 (Victor 1 and Victor 2) are actually prototypes and can never be registered - they will be crushed when they finish up (same as the Nissan GTR my daughter Amber was driving as the V8 safety car for the last 3 years)! Its good feeling at the end of the day when many people say thanks and give you a wave. Team Medical do all of the V8 races, and car and bikes as well - they have a transporter which takes the two unregistered cars and a container load of medical supplies to every part of OZ.
