Changing Fork seals
#1
The right hand fork seal is weeping on my K9. I'm fairly competent with a spanner and I'm tempted to give it a go.
So any tips or things to watch for/avoid??

Cheers Kev, I may take you up on that. Looking at the service manual it refers to special tools, how did you get round this, or is that the fork seal tool?

once you get your forks out there is a large hex bolt inside the axle area that holds the bottom to the top undo that i used a rattle gun , slide the bottom leg off and and put aside on the fork tube there us a dust seal pop that off and you have the seal in front of you pull it out , thats what i did and its the reverse to putting it all back together ,

if your not sure pm me and i can walk you through it on the fone

My k8 developed a weeping seal when near new. The local dealer had a special tool that they ran around the seal and it has never leaked again since. Appearently a small amount of grit had got lodged under the lip of the seal. I will try to find out the proper name of the little probe/thingy that they used. Paul.
