can anyone help with any ideas on how to get more legroom from my gen 1? on someones advice i've tried fitting some buell stepdown footpegs & with farly minimal mods they went on, but to my dismay it created issues with not being able to adjust the gear lever down enough without it fouling on the side stand. also couldn't get enough adjustment out of the rear brake lever either. on the good side the stepdown pegs did allow much better leg room. any ideas would be much appreciated.

Can't you cut a piece off to get enough adjustment out of the rear brake lever?

the rear brake lever is the least of the problem & yes if a piece was cut off the bottom of the thread that would allow more adjustment, but i dont want to start cutting things off until i'm sure these pegs will work with the gear change lever. the biggest problem is that when i adjust the gear lever down to suit the stepdown peg it fouls on the side stand when i change down. i'm thinking i might have to try some different pegs or maybe some rearsets but i'd like to hear from some people who might have some experience with this mod.

Or undo the 10mm bolt & move the gear selector clamp around a spline until it clears. You will have to find the balance between adjustment & clearance but the Buell pegs do work & work well.
Also remember to lift your toes when going hard in the twisties

I have the Buell pegs and I did initially have that sidestand-clearance issue but I simply adjusted the lever upwards by, like, 2mm, and now have no problems with it.
I don't know where you got your pegs from; I got mine from the guy who sells them on hayabusa.org. He does the machining before selling them, so they go straight on.

Vario Pegs from Motorad garage in Perth have excellent lowering pegs. I have both! for when I'm feeling particularly precious and fragile!

will get you there. They are excellent if not a little pricey - you get what you pay for.
