Tacho won't go past 6k!

Yeah..
When cold, I can't get past 3k even, it stutters and farts and I get nowhere. Let it warm up [which I do normally] and it chokes from 2k-3k then surges up to 6k then it just sits there.

I noticed a lack of power overall a couple weeks ago, then this started happening last week.
Dropped it off for a service but it hasn't really been figured out yet [a possible fuel pump for those that have read the For Sale section].

Ideas?

It's not the plugs, it's not the throttle bodies. It's a 2001 Fuel tank + pump [on a 2000 bike, which has been working fine for past 2+ years]

Mine used to feel like it was running lean past 8k in 6th.
Couldn't get the cheesecake to the rev limiter down Conrod Straight???
Strapped it down to the dyno and had it confirmed.
To cut along and story short it was the fule pump filter. (The black jobbie in the photo below)

They only cost $450. But there are none in stock in Australia anyway?

Back to you Slong. Keep us posted. This problem gave me grief for weeks. Once a replacement filter went in the bike was back to 172 RWHP and topped out down Conrod Straight. (Race track of course)

I would have to agree with GDYUP. I had a similar problem in my 99, till I rebuilt the fuel pump. Di yourself a favour and get an in line filter added when the work is done.

Have them do a fuel pressure / volume check and that will figure it out pretty quick ............... and saves guessing also
