hi guys ive had a noise coming from the front end for a while now and i thought it was the chain.it was like a rattle kind of noise and it was intermitant but now ive narrowed it down to when i back off the accelorater at low revs.I put the bike on 2 stands and simulated 2nd gear at 30kmph and let the accelerator off and i was getting all this chain noise.2 weeks ago i took it to the local suzuki shop and they said the tension was fine so i dont think it needs tightening. My bikes done 7500ks and my question is does anyone think that is too early to change chain and sprockets.i ride conservatively as i am no rossi.Ive only ever had gen 1 busa's and i personally think its to soon to change but i could be wrong.Has anyone else had this problem on a gen 2?
It might not even be the chain....
cheers.

You should be getting approx 30 000km from a looked after original chain & sprockets. To check if the chain is worn, try and pull any of the links away from the centre of the rear sprocket. If the chain is good, you won't be able to do it. A worn chain can be pulled away at an individual link. Worn sprockets are indicated by the teeth being curved over at the point part. I doubt these are your problems and would suggest you get a mechanic to ride it and check it out.

From experience on a Gen II I found that the front brake pads were not seated properly and they cause a slight rattle when you apply light pressure. It went away as soon as I replaced my first front tyre and the pads reseated.
This may or may not be your problem but I know that a couple of other K8 owners had the same thing.
I agree with Huls on the GEN II chain and its miniumum life expectancy. I have done 30,000k and it is still in top nick.

Well i took the bike in to a suzuki dealer and all they said was the chain was too tight and that three people who rode it couldnt hear a noise.(The noise is still there)I left it with them for three days and said they can take the bike home and do what ever...but no.It didnt happen.I said to them to take the farings off and whatever time it takes ill pay for it ......but no.Doesnt anybody want to work!It all seems "all too hard" to me.
I think i might trade her in.I dont know whether i expect too much from mechanics but its the same old story over and over!
in my old trade if i was 1mm out on a $50k job i would have to redo it and these people cant even spend a bit of time helping someone who has bought 3 new hayabusa's and many many thousand of dollars worth of accessories.
Can anyone recommend another brand or at least a good mechanic in perth that will do a job i WANT to pay for.....
Cheers

I have a weird noise only I can hear. I'm sure it's the gear lever and links.

I suggest you do as I say.
Take out the font wheel and put it back.
I had the same noise described when under deceleration when my bike was new.
You don't have to touch the brakes to hear it.
