I found that with new sprockets and chain that by removing one set of links only the rear axle came right up against the swingarm which made the chain too tight.
If you run a new chain for a couple of thousand ks before removing the link, it allows just that fraction extra stretch that you need to be able to fit it.
Dropping either sprocket by one tooth should allow the new chain to be shortened one link and fit ok. I don't suggest you reduce the front sprocket though, it puts extra strain on the chain.
I suggest you reduce the rear by 1 or 2 teeth or take the first option if you haven't already shortened the chain. (I'm guessing that you have).

Dropped my rear sprocket 1 tooth. The poor man's no hassle way of fitting a high ratio 5th & 6th gear in the gearbox.
Shortening the wheelbase, you must be building a stunt bike for a large size DAREDEVIL DURKINS GLOBE OF DEATH.

Shortening the chain is supposed to make the GEN 1 busa handle better.
I didn't notice any concievable difference after doing it.
I learnt to corner better.

I recently replaced my chain & sprockets, std gearing, and was able to loose a link - rear wheel adjustment is right at the minimum or shortest wheelbase and the chain adjustment was ok. Ive got 1 inch raised dog bones & when i swapped back to std dog bones just last week i found the chain way too tight. Cant move the rear wheel any closer as there is no adjustment left so the raised dog bones went back in.
So with a shorter wheelbase & a raised rear ride height it turns pretty good, maybe this is what your after ?
hope this helps jz
i went up a couple of teeth in the rear sprocket, and then took some alloy of of the slot aswell to make the wheelbase even shorter.
it becomes a different bike! i highly reccomend it!
get ready for even more wheel in the air action though!

It is a tricky mod since when you push the wheel front the rake/trail increases. That is because the rear wheel goes up sliding on the swingarm.
It is a small amount but it takes alot of measuring to keep the rake trail the same after moving the rear wheel front...
I think i might combine a 55 rear,60 front tyres profile and then go for dog bones.Thansk people!
