PAIR mod. confused

Hi

Does this mod prevent engine damage or just stop the annoying popping?
Ive installed some M4 gp slipons and i like the sound and only want to do the pair mod if the popping is causing the engine trouble.

cheers.

If it is a GEN II bike, I would suggest that you forget the pair mod for anything but high end sport applications. The engine management system should look after the fuelling for a pair of slip ons.

The GEN 1 pair mod can be a fairly simple application and does prevent the slight backfiring when you back off after accelleration. If that is all that you wish to achieve, simply block the air feeder hose from the right rear of the airbox with a small marble or a round headed bolt inserted at the top of the hose. That'll do the job.

Correct Bugso - Brock said exactly the same thing to me when I put my full system and motty on - dont go the full block off plate route, no need, waste of $$ and doesnt achieve anything that a little well placed bolt in the hose does - plus you cant see them anyway so whats teh point, I did the whole plate thing with my ZX10 and could have saved time & $$ doing a simple bolt job! ...mind you I have wasted soo much $$ over the years doing mods I cant talk lol
Egos; everyone got one

Confused The gen2 don't have plates fitted like the gen1
I just put a marble in the hose near the air box

ahh yeah they do - its part of the 2nd air system but a moot point anyway as a marble or small bolt will do the same thing. Some people like to pull the whole system off like I did on my custom as with no fairings you can see the top of the motor.

I did the mod on the Z1000 being a naked bike and all and it helped a lot, but I don't think I would go to the effort on the Busa as my Racefits don't pop and splutter that much so it's not a worry. Maybe I'm not reving it enough??? :)

I was going to pull the lot of mine like the last one but the F1 light came on when I unplugged it so I just did the marble thing.

Bummer about the FI light!
Is there an adapter or something you can do to avoid this FI light?
I just bought the smog block off plates for my B-King as it also lowers the weight on this heavy beast.
Thanks.

AHHHHH actually no they dont have plates. the entire thing sits above the rocker box.
pull the whole lot off, plug the three spigots (two on rocker box one on filter housing) with rubber caps (half inch from memory) and short out the plug on the wiring loom.

equals no popping and no FI light but the weight saving aint more than a hundred grams or so.

might be able to find some pics in a day or two
