Electronic steering damper.... - NEMESIS - 13-03-2008

I hear good things about the k7 gsxr1000 electronic steering damper...

Can it be fitted to a hayabusa, that is my question...
Anyone know if its a stand alone unit or does it run of the main ecu?

If all is OK with the running gear, the busa is stable up to and over 300kph with the stock damper.

The K8 damper is stronger and better though.

Too right Ray, even without a damper to over 300kph, I suppose it depends on road... opps track conditions.

Power steering?
Shut your mouth you beautiful old man.

Stock dampers are shit for what i put the bike through.
I know changing the oil in them is meant to make a difference.
I suppose i could always go with an aftermarket unit but i like the idea
of not having to manually fiddle with the damper all the time.

Have a read of this. Popcorn I'm sure it'll spark some debate.

RandomInternetGuy Wrote:Regarding steering dampers, my feeling is that these are not necessary on streetbikes. They are a "band aid" approach to fix chassis problems on some bikes. They are just like a shock absorber used to slow down steering inputs on race bikes, which normally have very steep fork angles to speed up handling. In fac, in street use, a damper can slow down steering inputs too much.

If the bike isn't designed correctly, the factory will sometimes resort to installing a steering damper to help prevent side-to-side oscillations of the handlebars, which can sometimes occur when the huge amounts of power are applied coming out of turns or in other instances. Some owners install them more or less to look like a racer, but in 99% of street riding, they're an unnecessary complexity.

stock one is crap, just replaced mine with an ohlins, different bike, heaps better, and it plugs into the loom, u have to put a resisitor (12ohm) in the plug to stop the computer throwing a fault code when u remove it......
