Age brackets of Busa owners. - TimF - 04-03-2008
A previous poll on this forum gave the following figures:
58.44% 40+years of age.
41.56% under 40 years of age.
I'd like to see some more detailed figures, so I've re-created the poll.
Note: I have NOT enabled the option that allows other users to see your answer.

Why is this a surprise? how many guys can a afford a toy near or past the twenty thou mark when trying to raise a family, own a house, go on holidays, pay for beer and wine...It comes with age. i'm happy to be a busa owner in the fifties I'm not worried about the future, others' values or the big C! I told my doc yesterday I bought another bike fastest in its class because i wanted the thrill and the release. I want something to look forward to each week beside my kids getting married - a selfish, hedonistic busa owner - that I am!

Fantastic writeup Busanova.
However, just as a point of interest, I do see a lot of young blokes riding new bikes that cost the same/similar price as our busas.
So while not surprising, I do find it interesting that it's a "60/40 split in the codgers favour" as Rev put it... haha.

My daughter's boyfriend rides a new gixxer1000 and he's in his mid twenties. Damo works in the mining industry WA, 8 on and 8 off; and I'm sure there are many in his age bracket with a cash surplus.

Sooo true :) we do! how ever - most go for those super "sport" gixxers, zx10's & what not, I got a busa coz I trashed my wrist so riding an R1 or something is not really an option for me :)

bought my first busa at 19 bought my second at 21 and the third now being 22, litre bikes dont interest me much i find them uncomfortable plus why would you want anything but a busa. discovered that i cant stray to far from a busa when i bought an m109r and only had it for 4 months then sold it for my second busa. i bought a new busa because well.....its new and pretty. i tend to find most people i ride with my age either dont want a busa cause there scared of them or because they wish they were rossi or stoner or vermuelen and buy a litre bike. well thats what its like up here anyway

Interesting that some quick sums on the latest poll indicate:
63.83% - 40 or less years years old.
36.17% - 41 or greater years old.
However, this poll has only so far attracted 47 votes, whereas the previous poll received more than 70.
I think there are some Baby-Boomers lurking who are yet to vote.

I have to speak up for my nappy-clad brethren. I'm over the moon about my busa. I've wanted one since I was a pimply teenager and now I've got one, I couldn't be happier. I went the long route via a liter V-twin for self preservation purposes (experience) and I have not yet cracked the 30 barrier (because of course everyone over 30 is by definition old).
Most people my age comment that they would kill themselves on a busa or they would loose their license et al. The best thing about having a busa over a liter bike is people just nod and move on when they see you on your busa - they don't try to race you. I agree with Dan85 - the reason people go for litre bikes is to be the next Rossi/Stoner.
