Fuel system up-grade? - rave - 05-01-2008
Hi all the turbo install is going to plan now im bout to start the fuel system and have very little knowledge in this field, so far ive got a bosh 040 fuel pump and monster performance fuel pressure regulator. i still need a fuel rail and injectors but not sure what ones to get? anyone know whats out there? ive blown the 5grand budget out the door for this install but i guess quality/reliability wins hands down! cheers

What are you planning for engine management ? how much hp are you after .
rough rule of thumb 5cc/min/hp so for say 300hp you will need 1500cc/min fuel in the cylinders so 4 x 380cc injectors maxed out at 100% dutycycle will just do it ,be better with 400cc
or use a FMU to push the fuel pressures very high to make the std 240cc injectors flow more(only good to ~280hp at ~90-95psi
Are you going to be able to fit the 040 in the tank easily ,

Ive made no plans yet for engine management guess that is next on the list, im planing round the 400hp mark (gt3540r turbo) i dont know if the bosh will fit the tank i just had it laying round the workshop.

This for drag or street,3540 is a great turbo for drags but too laggy for street.which a/r exhaust ?mine is a .82 .
the 3540 will also be able to make ~530hp if the system is well built
Several ways of doing fuel for higher hp, i use a microtech lt4 driving a second set of 650cc injectors mounted in the plenum, factory efi system is std , keeps the part throttle and idle sweet.
Leonard or others here may be able to comment on using one set of bigger injectors and running them with a controller like S&R's Interceptor.
Or full standalone ecu for bigger injectors and or secondary injectors, timing control,boost control,engine kill for airshifter.
Hope you are planning some sort of intercooler or water inj.

Most of the stuff i got from s and r pro and by the looks of things im gona send the bike to them to finish as its past my level of knowledge on this matter!
still had fun tho doing what i can to it.

ravestar Im running a full standalone ecu with big 787cc denso injectors on my steet bike runs perfect everywhere most of the good standalone ecu,s are capable of acheiving fine control over big injectors to make them run like a standard one. the only down side is the cost of a standalone , big rewiring job and you lose most of the dash functions so a aftermarket dash is required apart from that standalones have very precise control of injectors and ignition

hawkwind im using Autronic SM4 with a Autronic derect fire CDI 500R ignition box
Are you using the stock cam and crank sensors ?? or something else , if the stock any problems with noise or misreads ? thanks

Hawk i think Richard A's SMC gave trouble but now changed to a SM4 with good results too.
Aquajet the long hard slog is the bit i don't like,
Who does your tuning? few guys there in SA looking for an experianced operator .

Heaps cheaper to blow your own shit up than to pay others to blow it up for you!
The Tsi piggy back unit I found to be very good, easy to use, easy to tune, works well with stock ecu,dash etc, and some of the quickest bikes in the country run them!

For fuel control, would S2000 Honda injectors, (don't have the sizing in front of me right now but they do flow better than std), larger pump (040 Bosch fitted externally), MPE fuel rail, Mallory boost sensitive return type regulator and a PC2 work. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
