Long ride report - Simo - 04-01-2008

I rode the big girl from Newcastle to Brisbane on Wednesday. About 800km total. And about 9 hours including stops. Some observations.

Newcastle to Coffs for first fuel - took 15.6 litres and had done 370kms. Fuel light had only been on about 20kms. Very impressive. Easy 400km cruising tank.

Arse was sore by midway, and worse upon arrival. Looking for some sheepskin.

Throttle wrist was a bit tender (no assist) but fine by the next morning.

5-6 hours of the journey was either in dumping rain or on very wet roads. Handled very well, and was confident in the rain. Very happy. Riding home on Tuesday, will give more info then.

Sorry mate, not for this one. Just a transit ride. Was only off the bike for total about 45 minutes out of the 9 hours.

It shits me that the speed limit is 100kph because my busa cruises sweet at 160+ would make for a much nicer ride.

RE: Long ride report - BUSGO - 07-01-2008

There are 3 design gel seats available as accessories for the K8 BUSA.
They are on sale in the states and will be available here from the Suzuki dealers soon.
I think that they are about US$189.

Having ridden the GEN I bike for long trips though, I can tell you that your backside adjusts and you fit in to the stock seat eventually.
The GEN II seat is softer than the GEN I.

Well, I have done the return ride, another 800km in 9 hours including stops.

The friction throttle lock combined with a throttle assist made the ride 100% on the original journey. $40ish for the two, and seconds to install...can't go wrong.

As for the arse problem, I tried a few more stops which did help a little, but the pain ended up a bit more focused in my knees for the last 200kms. Was another wet journey, with a few dropping floods, but got through ok. Lot of police about being holidays AND north bound Summernats traffic, even so, they left me alone and I was sitting usually between 110-120kmh.

As for gel, I already plan on getting one when I am in the States next month and sending it home. They look quite good with the embroided "Hayabusa".

Cheers
Troy

Ghastly

I picked up my new K8 Busa in Cape Town and attempted to drive her to Johannesburg. Made 560 km and was shot. I am 1.9 m and the low screen killed me.

Was lucky to be picked up by a Johan Hees with an empty trailer that brought me through to Johannesburg which was another 800 kms.

Love the bike hate the screen.
