hmmm, maybe just coincidental? - Achilles - 08-06-2007 ![]() Just a heads up - many of us have probably noticed the 03 Hayabusa with very low k's on Bike point; Busa And many of us have probably tried to call one of the various incarnations of the mobile number, just in case the guy got it wrong. Anyway, the mobile # doesnt work, and I received an email from the guy today after an enquiry; here tis; Cheers Mate, Let me tell you something about my bike (2003 SUZUKI HAYABUSA ) before you make a final decision. The bike is in absolutely perfect condition, no scratches, dings, dents or other imperfections. My bike has all records and has been serviced. It is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. Price is $8,200AU. I have to tell you that I recently moved to N Z, Christchurch 'cause I am in the military on duty for a couple of mounths and I brought the bike with me. I will take care of all transport arrangements and costs. I have already done some research and came up with a quite reliable option, Escrow Australia. Here's how it works: I will take the bike to them, you will make a 50% deposit,to the escrow company, once they receive payment they ship the bike and hold the money until you receive, inspect and approve the bike. Only after the bike is in your backyard and you are satisfied with it, you need to confirm the purchase to them so they can release the funds to me(and transfer the remaining ballance). Should you not be satisfied with the bike, even though I can assure you that it is exactly as described, you may return it at my expense for a full refund of your deposit (including the transaction fees), no questions asked. If you wish to proceed, please reply with your full name and shipping address and I will get everything started immediately. Your's respectfully (blah blah blah) Now, this sounds good right, and it probably is (certainly the price looks great). However, just to let you know, interestingly and perhaps just coincidently, I received an almost identical email about 4 months ago from another dude trying to sell a Hayabusa from the UK at an equally good price (bike was originally from Aus and the dude took it with him.) Now this maybe just a coincidence...but maybe it isn't ...I'll leave that up to you, but thought I should let you know my experiences - you be the judge, but I would suggest (as with anything you are buying), have someone else arrange the details for you, take delivery etc etc. Ok, later friends Achilles RE: hmmm, maybe just coincidental? - ROD - 08-06-2007 SCAM RE: hmmm, maybe just coincidental? - maggot - 08-06-2007 Scam. thats one of the oldest ones they have, "bikes with the transport company, blah blah, pay money first then collect off them" its plain bullshit. there have been more of these than I care to remember but they usually (nowadays anyway) get pulled by ebay before someone coughs up the money. RE: hmmm, maybe just coincidental? - GlenTC - 08-06-2007 Just a local variant of the ye olde Fleabay stunt. A RE: hmmm, maybe just coincidental? - Louwai - 08-06-2007 In the past I've had a bit of a play with a couple of these. I recall one guy who was selling a bike in Italy. Yeah Right!!! Anyway, wandered back & fourth with a few emails getting him really interested & then I asked for an address of where the bike is now. No reply. Asked again & he said "Near Rome". When I pushed the point he finally asked why & I said I had a friend living in Italy & that friend would come & inspect the bike. Never heard from him again. RE: hmmm, maybe just coincidental? - BUSGO - 09-06-2007 I don't know how anybody could buy a bike unseen or at least seen by a friend. I know that I wouldn't. There are more than enough local bikes to satisfy our market. Why look elsewhere? "A fool and his money are soon parted". As they say. |
