SEE your route... never get lost again... GOOGLE EARTH ! - AstroBusa - 04-07-2005 You just have to get this ! Starting with a view of the earth spinning in space, you can zoom in... more... more... more... to.... THE ROOF OF YOUR OWN HOUSE !!!! Or anywhere in the world ! For those of you that want to see your most beloved riding road and trace all your most memorable rides... or travels.... this is for you !! You'll never get lost again... you'll even recognise the place before you leave your own driveway ! Ever wanted to visit the Road Warriors Cafe here in NSW but can't spare the time ? Easy, just go to the "FLY TO" entry area and type in (or copy/paste from here) 33d27'33.07"S,151d11'38.48"E and there it is !!! Theres even a line of bikes parked in the driveway !!! Pharking amazing !!! You can even pin the location, so the next time you need to find it, just click on the label and... there it is !!! Same for Gingers Creek or any other 'must see' ride location in Australia... or the world. When you get to the page, use the download link in the top right hand corner .... Its free !!! earth.google.com/ My kids have been playing on it for hours... we've visited places in the world like the Pyramids, London Bridge... bloody great fun ! The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob (Astro)Edited by: AstroBusa at: 4/7/05 21:26 Re: SEE your route... never get lost again... GOOGLE EARTH ! - AstroBusa - 04-07-2005 ... and another really cool advantage... if we start inserting the co-ordinates of our favorite locations in our posts... people who read them can cut/paste into Google Earth and actually go take a look at the place ! The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob (Astro) Re: SEE your route... never get lost again... More Info Edited by: Djpete at: 22/7/05 1:51 pm Re: http://maps.google.com/ works too - Beestroyer - 22-07-2005 Yes pan, its the same, Contrary to what dj says (who obviously never clicked "sattelite" button on google maps) however is got much more features and the earth is round, not flat. You can even turn on 3d buildings and pan down to view the city from ground level. Its satillite images from up high, but aerial photography for the close in stuff, so its not live, it is in fact 2 or 3 years old. The melbourne docklands are still a dirt paddock. I wouldnt be whining about it though, i think its awsome. |
