cleaning your bike - paul - 12-03-2007
I know its a prick of a thing to have to do but needs to done virtually after every ride. Interested in members ways of how you do this, wet or dry clean? I was talking to a rider yesterday with a 04 blackbird, he says he has only ever used mr sheen& his bike still has that new bike look & hes a regular rider. your thoughts/ideas appreciated.

Yep Paul along the same lines as mr sheen i use Plexus a bit more but better job get it at your bike shop spray on then wipe around with soft cloth then take of with new cloth your bike will look new again

I agree with the above, UNLESS going over gravel or in the rain.
Then I hose off first (the bike that is) and dry before hitting with the wax.
Pollish only once a year with Mothers California Gold.
For stone chips, I use Turtle colour fill wax.

Get your self plexus mate - it goes chemally in active after 15mins & saves your paint work ;) plus I reckon it comes up a lot nicer ;) "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

the amount of shit that runs outta your mouth really amazes me all i ever used was mr sheen on my 02 and it has bought home many 1st place trophys it works a treat and i would recommend it to any one Cheers

Mr Sheen rules. I first saw Billy Hill using it at his Leichhardt store - Mentor's in 1979. I have used it ever since. Helmet and bike.

well - I am just relaying what bike painters have told me mate - so if you know more then them please share with us the reasons why its good & not bad?
One of the main reasons why its bad is because it seeps past the paint & in to the plastic - there are other reasons as well.
so maybe think about the stuff I say instead of saying how amazed you are at the so called "shit" I post on here, go & have a think about the shit your putting on here & recommending to others before saying lam talking shit mate. "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

now back on subject i use myr sheen but i dont let it sit cause im worried it will eat the paint awa if it sits but itmakes a nice finish. Sting!

Yes, surface finishers do prefer you to not use Mr Sheen because it makes their job harder and they have to spend more time on preparation when painting.
That is just a concern if you intend to repaint your bike.
Very few of us do.
Mr Sheen "waxes and pollishes as you dust".. as the old ad says.

I fail to see how wax could possibly penetrate
paint. Assuming they are all using automotive
acrylic lacquer, it would take some sort of
miracle for anything to penetrate it. Must be shit
paint.
We spray all kinds of paint all day long here, mostly
acrylic lacquer and 2pack, and I have never heard such
a load of rot in all my life. Everything gets exactly the
same preparation prior to painting, regardless of what polish
etc. has been used on paintwork. Sounds like they have made up a reason to charge you too much money for a re-spray.
Mr. sheen is the go, I swear by it.
Brand name gear is the same shit with a higher price tag.
