Australian GP - Poh - 27-06-2001

G'day,

I am planning to ride from Newcastle to PI for the Aussie GP in October.

Being new at this game, I was wondering if anyone can suggest a route that might take 2 days going to the GP and 3 days comming home.

Any accommodation recommendations along the way would also be appreciated.

Poh.

TAKE ME!!! - Heidi1 - 27-06-2001

If I can get any time off work I'm considering the same. Ride with me?

I LURVE that ride (apart from the cops). Best way I think is Canb, Cooma (boring 100kms), Bombala then Cann River Road. Sleep Orbost, first pub past the roundabout or Bairnsdale, but a bit hard to fid somewhere nice, NOT Lakes Entrance, no normal pubs so you have to pay $65 for something that makes you feel like a traveling salesman. Take the REALLY long way down from there, pick any road that looks squiggly (if I had my map, this would make SO much more sense). There is a big freeway that goes Melb to Bairsdale, AVOID this at all costs! Go the really long way down through Wonthaggi and you pop out at Phillip Island! MAGIC! I've tried all the ways down from Canb, and I am NEVER going though Melb again.

YAY!

P.S. Am I giving directions like a GIRL?
DAMN I wish I had my map.
