Unmarked cop bikes - demeester - 21-03-2001

Heard it on the radio, and now I found this in a mag:

Quote: There's a bunch of rumours and loose reports going around Victoria about cops on unmarked streetbikes giving riders a hammering on some of the good scratching roads.
Quote: One poor bugger on an RGV reckons he was booked up the Black Spur by a copper on a black R1!
Quote: Acting Superintendant Margin Boorman reported the police are conducting a trial which has been in progress for a few months. It looks likely to result in a fleet of unmarked police motorcycles.
Quote: "We are using mobile radars on motorcycles,..."

Performance Streetbike, No 68

Revenue raising by STEALTH !!!!! Saw a 4wd speed camera car in Bulla, renowned black spot NOT ! guess the gloves are off. These blokes should be booked for impersonating a civilian !!!!

PS: If you see a camera trap, get your mobile out & ring 9536 8866.

Cop on a R1 - col - 21-03-2001

G'day,

Known fact, there is a cop on a R1 in south western sydney that will taunt you into a blast, then turn on the strobe behind the screen. Over the years they have used ZZR1100 and CBR900's.

Be carefull who you run on the street!

Regards Col

Cops on bikes - demeester - 22-03-2001

The other day, there were five of us lined up at the lights. Bit of revving, etc, when bike number 6, a cop (not unmarked) pulls up. Light turns green, everyone, cranks it out for a second, and eases off at 60, at which point, the cop pulls it up, goes a few hundred metres, and then opens it up. Is the correct etiquette to ignore him, and not be tempted into any sort of trouble, stay with him, or blow him away because he probably is in the mood for fun and won't book ya... I ignored him and just played it safe. Can't afford to loose points needlessly.

... yeah but who WON the drag Richard..?

Re: Cops on bikes - rev 01 - 22-03-2001

Was coming home from Bathurst once on my nearly new Z1 900. Approaching the intersection of the Hume & the road to Heathcote near Kilmore I spot a cop sitting on a BMW who seeing me immediately does a kamikaze & fly's out nearly t-boning me.

I wasn't speeding but he still booked me for not giving way to my right !!!! I thought about going to court & fighting it but realised it was my word against his.

PS: Don't get sucked in by revenuers on R1's or anything else for that matter!

Was up at Arthurs Seat 2 weeks ago and saw a dark blue
unmarked bike with a marked bike. The little trick they were doing was that the marked one would go up first
with a 30 sec break the other one would follow.I think
they were hoping the once we saw the marked bike we would think the coast was clear and open it up or overtake on the double white lines. It did'nt work though.

Re: cops - Hayabusa1999 - 22-03-2001

Have not noticd any unmarked Pig Bikes here, but that not to say there is none, there are lots of unmarked 4 Wheel bacon mover here so I guess it won't be long before we have the 2 wheel kind..

Guess I better be a little more careful who suck through my air rams and blow out my Yoshi Muffers.....

Re: Sour ' n' sour pork@ Arthurs Seat - rev 01 - 22-03-2001

Yeah, the old double whammy tag team tactics are getting a bit obvious of late !

cops - jamie - 23-03-2001

By the way the unmarked bike was the same sort of BMW
as the marked ones.

Re: sending priv e-mails - demeester - 26-03-2001

News report just said confirmed that unmarked cop bikes are being used, and that we may see a campaign advertising that fact.

However, the report said they were unmarked BMW motorcycles.

cops - jamie - 26-03-2001

They also said they can reach 220kph.I dont know if we can outrun that.
