Re: Turbo's - Gazza - 25-10-2000 there was an article in one of the magazines (Performance Bike I think) earlier this year about 2 guys in Adelaide who put turbos on their Busas and will do it for a fee. Boss had the magazine, maybe he can tell you who it was. Re: Turbo's - Fox - 25-10-2000 Funny. I was looking at that Mag today - it's still in the shops ... Performance Bikes it is .... Re: Turbo's - Hayabusa1999 - 26-10-2000 Thanks guys for the response, it been a help to me, just got the mag today, hope it helps me make my mind up here as to whether I really need all that extra horsepower, and can afford all the extra rear tyres....thanks again Re Turbos - BigMac088 - 01-11-2000 Hi all, The company doing Turbos is in Sydney. The guy who did it has a Suzi car and reckoned he had to do the busa because his little 4 wheeled suzi could out accelerate the busa in standard form - he claims it produces 550hp They have done two busas and they are not only turbo'd they also run custom made intercoolers as well. They estimate they can get the bike up to about 300hp but so far have "only" made about 260 hp. They will do it for a price, takes abot two weeks to fit and costs run from $6000 to about $10000. Peter Tainton is in Stud Road vic and he has done some electronic and exhaust mods to produce about 220+hp as I recall. The bike was clocked at Avalon airfield at around 324kph on the radar. He has kits in stages from around $3000 to $6000 I believe. The Mr Turbo kits come from the USA at around US$4000 but I would not like to fit one myself so unless they have an agent out here I would be taking the bike to Sydney. Oh, the other downside of the Sydney mod is that you end up with the air cleaner sticking out of the lower left hand fairing - a bit like a trainer wheel. Hope this helps guys - I am considering the same change myself next year hence the research If anyone wants the actual address of the place in Sydney email me at bmacone@hotmail.com and I will go find it for you. bmac Re: Turbo's - Hayabusa1999 - 01-11-2000 Thx BigMAc088, I am going to look into the sydney mobs turbo a little more, although I think the Mr Turbo kit looks a whole lot better package, is probably going to be to much trouble importing it. There is a Motor show at darling harbour later this month, the Turbo busa's are going to be there so I am going to go and check them out, then I will make my mind up on which way to go..... Turbo's - OLD CAHN - 01-11-2000 G'day Cahns and Cahnettes I also have been looking at Mr Turbo kit from the USA. It would have to be heaps better than that Sydney mob's. Obviously they don't turn left very often! Look at the unused tyre on the rear in the pics. I also find it hard to swallow that he built the turbo Busa because it couldnt keep up with his Swift. (if this is true I bet the car ain't street legal) Has anyone seen proof of this claim? . What is the deal importing the kit from the USofA? It looks like it would be $8,590A + any import duties and freight. Maybe we could get a bulk discount if several were ordered? Regards Old Cahn Contact Number for Turbos in Sydney - BigMac088 - 02-11-2000 Hi again, There is an article in PERFORMANCE STREETBIKES issue 65. You need to talk to Jamie or Snake at S & R PRO on 1 800 803 956. According to the articlr it will cost $6000 to get you 210hp at the wheel and up to $10 - 12,000 for the works, potentially generating somewhere in the excesscof 300hp at 12 to 13 pounds of boost!! It takes about three weeks to kit everything out so wait until winter - I could NOT be off my bike for that long. Silly stuff really but if I had the ready $$$ I would be in it for sure. You can never really have enough grunt. Hope this helps guys and gals bryan |
