Grab-rail Modification Help - Evero - 25-05-2003

I've noticed a few busa's have had the hump modified so you can still fit the hump while the grab-rail is fitted.

I would like to do this mod but am a bit hesitant to take to the busa and start cutting bits out of the hump

Can anyone who has done this mod recommend the best way to go about it?

Thanks

Re: Grab-rail Modification Help - peter altas - 25-05-2003

get a fine, flat file and slowly shave back the rhs so that it matches the lhs. That's about it.
if you take it gently and slowly, you cant hurt anything.

I must add that I haven't personally done this mod, but I have done much work that is similar and this is how I would do it.

Dont like the look of the rail with the hump myself, but eh, each to his own

Cut the sections out of the hump with a coping saw. Too easy! Makes the swap from hump to rear seat easier. But even better is you have something to hang on to getting the bike on and off the race stand.
(Of course the grab rail looks much better nickel plated)
Cheers, Phil.

Nickel Plating - Evero - 26-05-2003

Thanks for the info

Hey Phil have I missed something about nickel plating i've noticed that its been mentioned in a couple of other threads - has someone in the club got shares in a nickel plating business

Re: Nickel Plating - rev 01 - 26-05-2003

Ping GDYUP: You got your first dividend cheque from the nickel plate investment I got you onto ?

Didn't know who that suave urbane bloke was getting out of the magna bearing gifts Ah yes , you "polish up" pretty good young GDY

Re: Nickel Plating - GDYUP - 26-05-2003

A joker once said on the discussion board that I hand out complementry sunglasses to look at all the nickel plating on my bike. Very funny! (NOT!) Can't remember the old guys name though??? (It'll come to me):"> :"> :"> :"> :">
Hope you liked the first free burnt copy of the Busa manual rev01. Have your other two latte/long black Busa mates got there copies yet??? You said the business venture was about to take off too! Nos that I can go into it yet!
Bloody dremel tools, were starting to sound like the Yanks, they can't pinch off there daily loaf without assistance from Mr Dremel tool.
The coping saw was hanging within reach!
Cheers, Phil. Riding and sawing.

Can't talk too long GDY , there's some blokes in white coats looking for me They reckon dim sims are the go for dinner tonight x 365 !! followed by a nice relaxing kerosene bath ahhhhhhhh that's better, can't seem to remember where I'm living nowadays, busa ? what the hell is a busa ? wanker or something ?

I overheard the "old" couple (via a wine glass stethescope) in the next unit making love the other night: the geezer says to his wife of 60 years, "oh yeah yeah yeah baby, wha ? who the hell are you? you know babe, I should be mowing the lawn
