snatchiness at low speed - fenda's not happy! - Fenda - 23-05-2003 Any ideas on how to sort this one out? In the lower gears at lower speeds its hard to ride smooth - when the throttle is rolled on and off you can feel the drivetrain take up a second late and its 'snatchy'. Going up and down Mt Hotham this year on the way to the island it was really annoying. Just in 3rd gear going hard and I every time i backed off or on the throttle i could feel the drivetrain catch up with the motor after a slight delay - kinda clunky. Its crept in recently and im now up to 45,000 kms. Replaced the chain at 30,000, and have just done the front and back wheel bearings. The rubber thingys in the rear wheel dont seem to have wear - where is the problem - could it be too much play in the throttle cable? I hesitate to take it to suzuki - theyre useless even when i tell them what needs fixing! Viking Re: snatchiness at low speed - fenda's not happy! - kamakazebusa - 23-05-2003 I think it might be the throttle tension in the cable, i hate too much slack in mine, it feels like a hesitation in throttle response..... RE:Snatchiness - rocket rod 7777 - 23-05-2003 Just a thought, have you stringlined your rear wheel? cush drive again ? - rev 01 - 23-05-2003 Had the same thing @40.000, but you say you don't think it's the rubbers. Have another look & firmly grasp the rear sprocket top & bottom with the wheel on the ground & see if you can move the sprocket back & forward towards the engine. If still in doubt, pull the wheel out & look at the 4 rubbers behind the sprocket carrier. They should be symetrical in shape but if worn they will have one side worn off (the thrust or drive side). If they are worn, go to "technical discussion" for the fix if you don't want to replace. Is this a wind up Re: cush drive again ? - Fenda - 25-05-2003 Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did replace the sprocket with the chain at 30000 and i think the chain is still ok. I'll check out the throttle play and the rear cush drive also. Maybe its just general wear and tear throughout the drive chain? Gearbox, sprockets, cush etc all contributing? Whilst in Newcastle at the weekend i rode a new busa and it definitely was smoother to ride - a lot easier to change gears without any snatch. Anyway I'll keep checking things out.
