01 Model - wearlej - 09-04-2003

Hi Guys,
New to the forum, I'm looking at a 2001 Hayabusa with about 28,000km on the clock, what sort of things should I be looking at? I currently own a Honda CBR1000F and I know those things have issues like the CCT at various mileages, is their anything similar with the 01 Hayabusa?
It's priced about 14,500

Cheers

Errrrr.......whats a CCT???????

cct - Slong - 10-04-2003

Does he mean one of those Catolytic [sp?] converter thingies - anti-pollution[?] devices that the poms have? [that I don't think any Busas in Aus have]

Re: cct - busababy - 10-04-2003

Cam Chain Tensioner .. thingy that used to fail on them bikes... and was therefore recalled for mod update....

RE:CCT - rocket rod 7777 - 10-04-2003

Ahhhh ok then that means the 01 model is ok.Was it not only the 99/00 models that had problams, then the tensioner was changed!

01 Model - wearlej - 11-04-2003

Yeah CCT = Cam Chain tensioner, what I was driving at is that on the CBR it chews through a CCT every 40 thousand kays or so, so if you buy one of those at that sort of mileage you need to check if it has been done, I was just wondering if the Hayabusa had anything similar that needs doing at the 30 thousand mark or so..

Oh yeah, it has 10/00 on the compliance place but apparently that's the 01 model?

nice bike - jamie - 12-04-2003

I got a 99 black & red with 112 thou on it with no problems with it so far.Had the cct done so I think it says
a bit about how good the bikes are.So go a nd buy one andyou will be happy with it for a long time.

cbr v busa - SubRX - 14-04-2003

Being a fellow CBR1000F rider who made the "not soon enough" upgrade to the busa, all I can say is go for it. I loved the CBR and said that I would only update to the Blackbird. After a ride on the Blackbird I changed my mind. Then I got to ride the bus and never sat on my old CBR again.

So far I haven't had any probs with the bus at all. I read posts about vibrations and other ailments, thus far mine is magic. Had the airbox, clutch torque and speed limiter removed at 5 thou and the thing is awesome.

Good luck, and hopefully, welcome to the club.

Yep.... that feelin' - peter altas - 16-04-2003

Congrats on the acquisition.

Had that feelin' from the day of the first test ride (jaw hurt for hours from the huge grin on my face), til the pick up day over 4 months later.

Now pushing 15 months and I still crack a smile every time I open the garage roller door and she's staring me in the face.

What an awesome machine.

And welcome to the Hayabusa Club.

You'll have to post a pic of your bike now.

Re: 01 Model - ac boosa - 16-04-2003

yeah no need to rub it in kamakazebusa - already having second thoughts (just kidding)

well my friends no busa for the rest of the year - decided to get a new '04 model when they hit the shelves. What I have acquired though (well nearly - is coming from Sydney) is a SUPERMOTARD - a KTM Duke 2 to be precise.

laugh you may but I'll take any of your 'barges' on in the twisties

cheers,

Adrian
