M1's are great!!! - Viking - 15-03-2003 Got a set of M1's (180 rear/stock front) fitted yesterday and went for a good ride today to test them out. All i can say is they inspire confidence in the corners. All i could feel from them was pure grip. Compared to the stock tyre there is a huge difference in traction, from entry to mid corner and thru exit. The only downside now is that i scrape the footpeg round the corners more and on one corner the peg stuck and sent me toward the gravel on the wrong side of the road while at full lean. I would say that if i was on the stock tyre i would have definatly been in the scrub but on these i was able to front brake to reduce speed which stood up the bike then relean a new line back into my side of the road. I think i'll get a set of GSXR1000 pegs for it. Viking Re: M1's are great!!! - peter altas - 16-03-2003 Always great to hear a good review on a new tyre option (as I'm considering changing from the Bridgestone's in the next few '000 k's), but what's a "m1"????? Make? Model? Where? How much for front/rear? Speed rated? Peter Altas BUSA-1 Re: M1's are great!!! - Viking - 16-03-2003 Make? Metzeller Model? Sportec M1 Where? Any tyre dealer, Pablo's has 10% off Metzeller over March. How much for front/rear? Cost me $500 for both fitted (180 rear though for better cornering) Speed rated? 1 spot less than busa tyres but who cares. Viking Re: M1's are great!!! - bigshowbusa - 16-03-2003 I believe what you say viking, the M1's are supposedly made using the same equipment as the super corsa. Do you know if they make the M1 in a 190?? I've got the gixxer pegs on the bus, when you buy them make sure you remember to order the bushes for the bolt hole or they will be a loose fit... The gixxer pegs being narrower give you more clearance, no need for the hero knobs either they become redundant, reason being you'll scrape the magneto cover, fairing, sidestand and gear lever before you get near the busa knobs attatched to the gixxer pegs... Re: M1's are great!!! - Viking - 16-03-2003 Yeah they make up to a 200 i think but a 190 for sure. I got the 180 for the better flickability. I'm not too fussed about the thinner looking rear. Anyone in their right might knows what a busa can do. Viking Metzeller Sportec Z3 - Evero - 17-03-2003 I'm after a new set for the bus, but when I asked about the M-1's I was told that they don't stock them then they recommended Metzeller Sportec Z3. Anyone used/have them? If so what are your thoughts. Currently running HPX but can get a good deal on these Z3 so any insight into grip etc would be great. Tony Re: Metzeller Sportec Z3 - Viking - 17-03-2003 www.metzelermoto.com There should be some info on their site. Viking Re: Metzeller Sportec Z3 - AeroCat4 - 17-03-2003 Sounds good, but just read this - got the Bridgies BT-020 for rear for hard compound trip to Perth and stickier front of BT-010 today at Peter Stevens for $500 fitted. Could this Topic be moved to the Tyre Menu for future reference maybe?? Re: Metzeller Sportec Z3 - WARD P - 18-03-2003 Keep us informed on what milage you get out of the M1s. I always wondered why the little knobs under the footpegs were of different lengths. I've now worked out(too late!) they are to warn you of impending damage to your fairing and engine casings. Now when they scrape I know it's time to start climbing further under the bike. If (read 'when')that cover wears thru is there oil in there to get out? Surely changing the pegs would lose that? m1 price - chosen one - 21-03-2003 Action in Canberra have M1 & Pirelli Dragons on sale for $395 a pair. Bill |
