Unmarked cars in NSW - Fenda - 03-12-2003 Just out of interest (self-interest in keeping my points!) who has been busted by an umarked car around in NSW other than the usual Ford Holden & Mitsubishi? How devious do they get? A mate of mine was booked in Vic coming back from the island by a cop in a red Holden ute, driving lights, tinted windows. Im reluctant to pass anything that looks like it may be an unmarked car when Im taking advantage of the Busa's superior accelaration and speed - are there any clues to look for eg number plates, arials etc? Cheers, David dmateer@bigpond.com.au How to pick em?? - gazza414 - 04-12-2003 Fact, the NSW Police force do use and use on a regular basis rental cars plus you would be surprised what other cars are sitting in the garages at times--although not always used for Highway Jockeys. Going down to the ski fields this year there were 2 Holden SS utes with mobile radar fitted and tinted windows. One was red and the other a yellow/green clour. These weren't rentals and came from Sydney. Re: How to pick em?? - ressac - 04-12-2003 How dumb is that? Using a ute as a pursuit vehicle. Utes are shit at taking corners coz the arse is so light. I wonder if they load up the back end? Generally, umarked cop cars are current model holdens, fords or mitsubishi's. There are a few subura wrxs in gold coast and apparently they have been known to knock around in the odd BMW. If I suspect I tend to just nosey on up to the blind spot and peer into the cabin. You can see either a uniform, extra gunk on the dash, the red and blue lights at the back window or some other bacon bits. Re: How to pick em?? - demeester - 04-12-2003 In Vic they also use Forester wagons... Re: How to pick em?? - rocket rod 7777 - 04-12-2003 ..............and WRX'S Re: How to pick em?? - hawkwind racing - 05-12-2003 also Volvo turbo S/W in the ACT Hawkwind Saw one... - Throwdown - 05-12-2003 Lovely Police woman in white shirt on a nice sunny day was putting fuel into a white Ford Falcon at the Shell garage, Parramatta Road, Sydney. I asked her why she was unmarked, saying that a marked Police car was a deterent, but she just smile in that public servant sort of way. Blue, white or black plain looking Falcon type cars driving behind me, or sensibly in the middle lane get me slowing down until I can check out the driver during a slow overtaking move. Once checked, I'm off. They're only doing their job. You have to wonder at the personality of someone who goes out, LOOKING for trouble. Out Prowling - gazza414 - 05-12-2003 Throwdown are you also a Bluecat elsewhere?? ONLY DOING A JOB - imagunna - 05-12-2003 What a bunch of bloody great big fat overgrown parasites, with egos to match, out there preying on the general public. Aren,t they all just public heroes out there protecting humanity, hiding behind trees or anything else they can find just waiting to raise revenue. Read the latest statistic, speed hasen't, killed over a 100 persons, Vic. crap country roads have. Ever checked their speed or seen them illegally parked or a heap of other offences. One law for them and one for us. bushrangers/police - kawasuki - 05-12-2003 Yeh they also use diesel vans like the ones the couriers use saw one around Penrith. Being trapped at the Snowy ride has still got me simmering at best I see an addvert in the MCN for riders who were trapped on the Snowy ride. I wouldnt want to see one of these bushrangers calling for help! Re: bushrangers/police - demeester - 06-12-2003 Crap Vic country roads? NSW country roads leave a lot to be desired... Seriously, though, they can justify the money when there is a return - but spend a 100,000 here or there to make a corner safer and save a life seems harder to justify... Re: bushrangers/police - peter altas - 06-12-2003 A sure fire way of picking a cop car in vic is to look at the rear window for the aerial. The police use a specific type. It's around 200mm long, straight (no twists, coils, etc) with a little round ball on top. Only cops have these aerials. Wagons and 4x4's will have them mounted on the front windscreen, but all sedans will be on the rear. I don't think Vic's use any WRX's anymore as two many were written off! And they think they can drive - of course it's safe for them to speed. Peter Altas BUSA-1 yeah dats me... - Throwdown - 06-12-2003 Gazza: Yeah. BlueCat usually. The bike's name is Throwdown! Duh me on signing up. Re: Another tip - RaZ80 - 08-12-2003 Normaly if your behind them you can see some lights mounted on the parcel shelf to the right or left. I have seen them mostly on the left. I have also seen them on Vic and NSW roads. Otherwise I just slowly come up to the rear doors and look in for the shoulder badge's get religious - ressac - 08-12-2003 ... just prey the bastards don't decide to use unmarked bikes as well. Imagine getting chased down by another busa, or worse, the embarassment of getting stung by a ZX12? |
